Service Description
Workshop Overview The one day workshop lets students explore traditional raku glazes, One & Two Step Slip Resist Naked Raku, Horse Hair and Obvara firings. Participants will be given thorough instruction along with demonstrations of techniques. You can choose to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. The Details: ● Bring as many pots as you can make from your 20lbs of clay. ● It is highly suggested that you apply and burnish your bone dry pots with terra sigillata. ● Feel free to bring your own raku glazes, animal hair/fur, interesting plant matter, etc. ● Please bring a long sleeved natural fiber shirt, closed to shoes, camp chair, snacks/drinks/lunch. ● Arrive no later than 10:00am ● Generally we are finished by 4:00pm or when the last pot is pulled. ● All participants must sign a liability waiver to participate. For those wanting to explore the use of ferric chloride, you need to bring a NIOSH-approved respirator with both an acid gas cartridge and a high-efficiency particulate filter (specifically P100) and eye protection.
